ENERGY REGULATION BOARD OF ZAMBIA

Postby SMUMBA » 28th August 2011, 22:18

Dear Zambia,
The time I hear ERB is when the fuel hike has been announced and when ZESCO applies or review tarrifs. There is a variety of energy sources but mostly ERB is much more concerned with of course very hot issues of fuel and electricity. Now when there is a lot of effort spent on these forms of energy they have overlooked the most important form (trees) from which chacoal is made.

Tell me what is ERB doing on this form of energy (charcoal) what regulation has been put in place? how are the future sources secured? how much forest are we destroying per annum? What are we doing about this? How are we replacing the trees that we are using to make charcoal? where will our charcoal come from in 2017? Please somebody at ERB tell me.

With the coming of the pre paid electricity bills, people have resorted to using charcoal for cooking putting so much pressure on the depleted forests. Please something need to be done before we live in the desert. ERB!
